During an inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an bold start to his tenure.

An Unprecedented Figure

The young figure, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.

As his administration starts, Mamdani and his wife will relocate from their Queens apartment to the stately mayoral residence.
