Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.
He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
